Morning was 2:00 pm, the District will protocolising agreements with Ararca community for the construction of the road Playetas on the island of Baru. This was confirmed by the director of District valorization, Jorge Luis Marimon, who said the initiative is on track.

The official said that last March 1st the project was filed with the National Agency of Environmental Licenses (ANLA) and socialized on 7 March.

“We are already working on the notarization of the agreements. We have already achieved agreements with communities Baru and Santana, missing Wednesday with Ararca “he said.

As guarantors of the notarization of the agreements will attend the Personería, Ombudsman and Attorney General. Similarly, there will be support from entities such as the Ministry of Interior, Government of Bolivar, Natural Corales del Rosario and San Bernardo National Park, Cardique, Maritime Directorate (Dimar) and the Community Council of the Island.

What needed to implement the project?

For the way to Playetas and coastal protection a reality, they would lack, according Marimon, three fundamental aspects. The first has to do with the completion of the notarization of agreements with communities; the second is geographically locate all points to be intervened in the works of coastal protection and road connection Baru, so that the ANLA can review and approve the project; and finally file the initiative again in Natural Parks.

After this process, we have to wait 60 days for the National Environmental Licensing Agency consider whether or not to approve the license. Following this, the District will seek resources, and finally, once obtained the project will be implemented. In order to seek financial support, the Directorate for Valorisation filed the initiative in the National Tourism Fund (Fontur), Ministry of Commerce; the General Royalties System (SGR) and the Ministry of Transport, among other government entities. “We are convinced that we will get funding sources for this great project that both need these communities to improve their quality of life,” concluded the director of valorization, Jorge Luis Marimon. It is projected that the works are being initiated in the second half of this year.
